Around 42 years ago, The Roll Arena started what is now considered a nationally recognized speed skating team, THE MIDLAND ROCKETS!

What is speed skating you say? Speed skating is the sport of competitive racing in inline skates. Determination, endurance and tenacity are but a few of the skills required to run with the pack. With speeds reaching over 40 mph on the track, this sport is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Over the years, the Rockets have had multiple national champions, back when only quad skates where used, up to todays inline and quad speed skates. As a matter of fact, every year since we've started we've had members at nationals.

Do you have what is takes to be a Rocket? Come and join us for practice on a Wednesday afternoon from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (September through May). We also have practices Saturday morning from 10:30am until noon. Everybody is welcome to join in the fun. Just come in and give it a try. All practices are coached.
